Bullying at school - what can you do? + Video

What do you do if you or someone you know is being bullied? And the school can tell it to others if you speak up?

What is considered really as bullying?
The Government of Norway has something called "Manifesto against Bullying" defined bullying as follows:
Bullying at school

"With bullying we mean repeated negative or" malicious "behavior by one or more directed towards someone who has difficulty defending themselves. Systematic exclusion or repeated teasing in an unpleasant manner is also bullying ".

On the basis of it we can say that bullying has three major characteristics:

Harassment is malicious and pertinent.
The progress over time.
There is an imbalance in the relative strength, both physical and mental.
It is important to emphasize that the experience of bullying is subjective. Definition court lies with the person who feels bullied.

Tell fastest possible!
Do not let it be long before you take up what's bothering you at school. Maybe not the teacher aware of how you feel about school life or what you are going through. The longer you wait to take up things, the greater and more serious problems will appear. Ask about a chat with the contact teacher, one counselor or advisor, or someone in management at the school. If it feels safer, you can also talk to the school nurse. She has time to listen and can help you record what you are experiencing at school.

It may help to take your parents when you talk to school. You can also ask your parents if they can deal meeting with school if it feels more appropriate. Try anyway to be open with your parents about how you feel. They can provide important support for you when you need it most.

It may also want to write down some points that you have with you in the chat with the school, so you remember what you want to say. You can request that the school should be professional in tackling conflicts, they are obliged to take you seriously and listen to what you have to say. Meanwhile, it is required that you are objective and put forward your opinions in a polite way. Together you can try to arrive at agreements on how to get better. Schools are obliged to take hold of bullying. Come with your own suggestions on what you think might help.

Write down episodes
If the school does not understand what you are experiencing or not taken seriously, write down episodes. Every time you feel bullied, banned, stalked, called ugly things, experiencing physical violence, racism, harassment or something happens that is not as it should be, you can jot down what happened. Write when it happened and how you experienced the situation. Later you can discuss these episodes with your teacher, nurse or other adult at school. This is a great way for the school to see how YOU are experiencing school life. Not all bullying is equally visible for those who work at the school. It will therefore be much easier for the teacher / management / nurse to put themselves in your situation and understand what you mean, if you can point to concrete examples of what has happened and how you experienced this. It's also wise to have documented episodes if it later becomes relevant for you to send a complaint to the principal at the school or the county governor.

Cyberbullying - how to stop it?
Example: You're going to school in the morning. In the hallway outside the classroom greet you on a bunch of your class who sits and waits for the teacher. No greeting back, they send each other glances and moves away from you. One of them says something sarcastic to you in passing. No teachers see what happens.

Write down the episode and what you felt, so it is easier for the adults to sit in your situation.

Employees have an obligation to help you!
Education Act, Chapter 9, a giving all students the right to a good school environment. Both the physical and psychosocial environment should facilitate that both teacher and enjoy school. Teachers and other school employees are obliged to work for a good school environment and intervene if students are being bullied, discriminated against, subjected to violence or racism.

Pupils shall participate in efforts to create good school environment. Here also the student council at the school have particular influence. In addition, it is wise to suggest to contact your teacher that you regularly talk about rules against bullying common in class. It is important that both of you students and teachers are aware of the responsibilities that you have. This can also make the others more aware of what behavior is good, and how not behave toward other students.

Coarse bullying and violence
You can complain!
Both students and parents can contact the school and request that errors and deficiencies in the school environment to be rectified. You get templates for how the complaint may be written by the Ombudsman .

The law requires only that the school gets a request, and it is enough if a student even tell your teacher or the principal that he / she is being bullied at school or pathway. It is still recommended to complain in writing to the school. Written Form making sure you have documentation that you have requested measures. A written complaint makes an easier for the school to understand what the cause. The complaint should / parents describe the discomfort you are experiencing.

The school is obliged to take the request seriously and treat it. This means that school as soon as possible should take a position on the request by doing something. You and your parents can also ask your school to see what written plans the school has to deal with these problems. If one complains, the school will have to give a proper answer according to what is called the Public Administration. Are you not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the county governor. You can also complain if the school does not answer the inquiry.

Can school tell others that you have spoken of?
If there is anything in the letter or email that is personal, schools do not have permission to talk about this to anyone other than those who need to know about the case. The school may ask for help from EPCS or others to find out what to do.

Send complaint to the County
First, try to take up your case with teachers, tutors, school nurse and the school management. If you can not find solutions that enable you get better, you can complain to the county governor . Are you unhappy with the school's response, or if you have not received a reply within four weeks, you can appeal the decision. The appeal rights to the county, but it will be delivered to the school so that the school or school owner has the opportunity to consider the case again.

On the Ombudsman's website you will find templates for how complaints should be written and what you need to carry. Always remember to be factual and most concrete.

In the complaint, you must include:

Describe your situation, what you are exposed to and how you experience school life.
Explain how you have so far tried to grasp the situation.
Explain how the school has acted in the case, if they have taken seriously, they have tried to put into action for the bullying to end, how these measures have worked etc.
The county governor has the authority to determine whether the school has met the requirements of the Education Act Chapter 9a or not. If the county finds that the school has failed to do so, the school is required to take the necessary measures immediately.

Comments:
I'm sitting here like 22 years old and writes ... The bullying started when I walked in 6 class. it started preview "quiet", with a little glance and a little laughter. It escalated gradually and was that all of the stage stood against the wall in the hallway, staring at me when I was going back to class after recess. I remember that was absolutely horrid. The feeling that ALL had something against you was insanely much to handle for a "little girl". The worst girls continued harassment of the youth school. I roofing maybe it was better in middle school since it came many new students, but it was not quite like that. The new students began to reunite with those who are being bullied. For me, it resulted in many cases of panic anxiety, where I simply had to be picked up by my mother. I got paranoia and began to cry (of course not in front of anyone but the bathroom). I was so insecure in social situations that I went straight to the toilets when it was small-breaks and spisefri. The last bully memory I have is when I was in 10th grade (!!) and was locked in the toilet. You are quite large and adult in your head when you go in 10 class, so then I felt really misslykket. Now I'm 22, sitting here with a great partner and our 2 young children. I soon graduated. Wish I knew I got this life when I was bullied and everything looked black out! The bullying is something I will always have with me. Low self-esteem is something I still carry on. The dependence retention of acceptance and being liked is great. Save the seals to be bullied again is there. I wish that the adults (teachers, coaches, etc.) ACTUAL grabbed the problems that so many young people struggling and going through. Bullying should not hooded "bullying" for the word "bullying" sounds so unproblematic. It sounds like one dramatises and that "bullying" is not so dangerous. But "bullying" is unbearable when it takes place, and in general it is quite amazing that bullying actually is allowed to continue and continue and continue. yeah, many teachers say they will grab it. Sure, many bullies say that they should stop. Sure, many have a plan and advice to come by for those who are bullied. councils and plans that work theoretically but not in practice. What to it the plans then? When I was bullied in elementary school said I advise the teachers, the school nurse and the notice to meet with bullies and bullies' parents. For me it was not better. The school's moto is: Here bully we do not. Here we hold no outside. Here we take good care of each other. Here we keep it tidy inside and outside. How do you control the problems when school's public face has this message to give. for somehow ... oh gosh ... no being bullied here. We can not quite believe this issue we. Not at this school, no! No wonder those who are bullied feel alone and watch finalized when to the school's motto deny that bullying happens and "submit the resources" to stop bullying hug 22 years old

What you should do is turn the shit out of the bully .... he lost thinking before he messing with you again. It works for me: D

I'm afraid and being bullied by the class if I say that I'm bisexual Hoping for answers as soon as possible

I've been bullied since I walked in 3rd class I have changed schools three times because of it but it has not hjolpe and læreran care sæ not: (but no, I moved to Denmark to hope it gets better :)

It is common for teachers, counselors and other people talk about the school to be a good and school without bullying where all thrive and feel good. It may also be common to (very rare) take this up with the class. But it has never helped. Sometimes people "good" the hour of taking it up, but it's very temporary. Norwegian schools just can not prevent bullying. Pupils will only continue with it, and you have time grab it yourself.

I hate when people bully and thinking yy 'I'm so cool, blablabla you is not fucking cool. I've fucking host utanfor since 5kl..går the Ann? I believed it was going to change and hope that someone loves me and will be with me..but it is not so here as I live. I live in a freaking space which are all fake and clear not and say and help some. I'm not sure why everyone must be so pathetic !!! I / we / have not done anything special. Forexample me, I am just a normal girl who will go to school and be happy be with friends and carry a considerable good life at school, I do not understand why people can be so incredibly stupid !!! I try and be with two girls at school, and you know what? Dei igoonere me all the time! Dei turns and does not speak with me, when I speak talking dei far too little. At school my many people are utanfor..lærerene passing dei whole time, and did not care! Dei has no idea !! So I'll just say that I have a privacy damn liv..takk
